Alan Wake 2 – How to manual save

Are you wondering how to manually save in Alan Wake 2? Sure, you can always wait for an autosave but that only comes around everyone in a while. In a game like Alan Wake 2 where you must survive monsters, it is paramount that you save your game whenever you can, so autosaves aren’t going to cut it.

If you have tried to manually save, you have probably noticed that the option does not exist in the menu. This becomes more strange when you try to load your saved data and you realize that there are manual save slots. Let’s start investigating this strange phenomenon. This guide will show you how to create a manual save in Alan Wake 2.

How to manually save in Alan Wake 2

If you are trying to manually save the game in Alan Wake 2, you need to progress further into the game. That’s right, you aren’t seeing the manual save option because you haven’t gotten far enough into the game.

You will unlock this save option during chapter two when you return to the crime scene of Nightingale. During this chapter, you will reach a point where you need to turn the power on in the Witch’s Hut by finding the fuse. After you find the fuse and get the power on, you will find your first manual save point.

From this point on, you will be able to save the game whenever you come across a break room. Of course, these aren’t everywhere so you will need to remember where they are at and return to them on occasion so you don’t lose any data, but at least you can save your game now. From this moment on, you will no longer need to put up with the autosave feature. In break rooms, you can choose to manually save or perform a quicksave. We suggest relying more on the former rather than the latter.
