When you think of video game consoles, you have a good idea of the top names to consider. If it’s not PlayStation, Nintendo, or Xbox, you probably wouldn’t consider it much. With that said, meet the NEX Playground Interactive Gaming System, a motion gaming console that was the second-highest-selling console for a recent week (with plenty of caveats).
According to Circana’s Mat Piscatella, the list of best-selling hardware in the United States for the week ending on November 22, 2025, was the following:
- Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle
- NEX Playground Interactive Gaming System
- PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition 1 TB
What is the NEX Playground Interactive Gaming System?
The NEX Playground is a little cube-shaped console that exclusively plays games that focus on motion controls that have your kid moving around and “being the controller.” Essentially, it’s a standalone Kinect that is exclusively focused on family games. Additionally, it has a Game Pass-like subscription called Play Pass for $89 a year that lets you play all 45+ games on the console, plus future releases.
Not only is this little console starting to sell well, but it’s getting very good user reviews. Outside of its own site, the console is being sold at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and Sam’s Club. All of them have an aggregate user rating of at least 4.4 out of 5 stars, with some reaching up into 4.7 and 4.8 territory.
As said above, there are plenty of caveats at play that helped the NEX Playground outsell the PlayStation 5. For starters, this is the week before Black Friday, and while this sales day doesn’t have the traffic it once did, there aren’t many people who are going to be buying video game consoles before possible sales begin. Additionally, this is exclusive to the United States, which, if you are not aware, may be dealing in early portions of a recession.
All of that said, though, the NEX Playground looks to be a fun little console for children to be active while playing. Some recognizable names support the console, and it has sold out before. While the “core” gaming audience probably hasn’t heard much about this console before, it looks like it is filling in its little niche in 2025 pretty well.
