Borderlands 4 has been on everyone’s minds recently with the Fan Fest coming up. Some creators have already received early access to the game, and the news has generally been good. Many have praised the title for having more grounded humor, a large open world, and four fun characters that round out the gameplay. Of course, there is one negative comment on many creators’ minds who got early access to Borderlands 4, and it involves one of the more controversial UI options: the compass.
Borderlands 4 early access players say the compass is cluttered
While the news around Borderlands 4 has been largely positive, the compass stands out as being one UI option that creators appear to dislike. After receiving early access, creator Ki11er Six on YouTube said the compass is “too cluttered and too small.” He also stated that other creators in the early playtest felt the same way.
During part of his video, Ki11er Six said, “In heavy combat, I shot non-player characters, and I had trouble identifying enemies quickly. The fog of war is real, and the compass is little to no help in combat.”
The compass has been a major concern since it was shown off, and Randy Pitchford defended it earlier in the year by saying, “Play the game, not the mini-map.” To this, Ki11ler Six stated that he “found himself playing the compass several times, trying to stay headed in the right direction. I ran into obstacles because I was trying to keep the compass pointed in the right direction.”
The solution shared by the community is to give the option for a mini-map if players find it more useful. We are sure that there are plenty who will find it more useful to use a mini-map rather than the compass feature. There might be some who want to use both as well. The option would be nice.
