Many theories are going around about the Siren in the upcoming Borderlands 4 game. Some believe she may have the power to manipulate animals and others think that she isn’t a real Siren. One theory that has been making the rounds on Reddit and beyond has to do with a character from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. This character has not been talked about in some time and her name is Emily Swan. So what is the Emily Swan Siren theory in Borderlands 4 and does it hold any weight? Let’s break it down.

Some theories about the Siren that have been making the rounds include one that she is an Eridium junkie who constantly pumps Eridium into her veins to enhance her powers. We recently talked in-depth about the Siren, how she can exist, and whose powers she can have.

Who is Emily Swan in the Borderlands franchise?

If you have played Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, you may have heard of a character named Emily Swan. Her story is told through Echo Logs left behind by Annie Swan. Completing this challenge will reward you with some Badass Ranks and some very interesting information. If you listen to the recordings, you will hear Annie explain that her daughter Emily is sick. During the story, Annie mentions that she is being watched by some alien that she refers to as being her “Watcher.”

After a few nights, the “Watcher Alien” appears before Annie and tells her that Emily will live and they must leave Elpis. In the next recording, Annie mentions a bright purple glow coming from Emily. Emily is then completely healed and the two of them go on to leave Elpis. That is everything that we ever hear about Annie Swan and her daughter Emily Swan.

The Borderlands 4 Emily Swan Siren theory explained

This is where things get interesting. Some have claimed that the new Siren in Borderlands 4 is Emily Swan. The main piece of evidence here is that the recording states, “Emily’s recovered! Can you believe it?! A real miracle! Nurse Nina said some kind of purple light lit up her medbay an hour ago… then my little moonbeam woke up.”

The purple glow connects back to the Siren in Borderlands 4 because of her very obvious purple tattoos. Unlike other Sirens, the one in Borderlands 4 has a new tattoo color that connects her specifically to this strange story. We also know that the Eridians have a strange connection to the Sirens. Because of this, it is theorized that the Watcher from the ending of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel appeared before Annie because it knew that Emily would be receiving Siren powers and she needed to be protected.

As far as the powers this new Siren will have, we mentioned that she could have Commodore Steele’s powers from the original Borderlands game. Since we never saw her powers, the devs are free to use whatever powers they feel like. Although, there is a comic book that specifically states that there is a Siren with the ability to control animals. The original theory was posted by EpicNNG on YouTube.
