There is a limit to how far Arrowhead is willing to go when doing crossovers with Helldivers 2. Pilestedt once set a clear line when talking about where the crossovers would end. This line ruled out the possibility of Master Chief appearing in Helldivers 2, but it did not rule out the possibility of ODST soldiers appearing in the game. In the latest trailer for the release of Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X/S, the team appears to be teasing the addition of a Halo 3: ODST crossover in the game, something that is sure to get the attention of many Xbox and Halo fans.
Arrowhead Teases Halo and Helldivers 2 Crossover
It has been confirmed that Helldivers 2 will be released on Xbox Series X/S on August 26. A little over 10 days to go, the team has released another trailer to help generate hype for the new soldier joining the galactic war. The trailer is very standard, showcasing the typical Eagle-1 runs, explosions, and mighty hug emotes, but one thing that isn’t typical is the quiet ending.
The end of the trailer gets quiet with some ominous music from the ODST soundtrack playing over a rainy city street. A lone hellpod drops in and disappears behind a car. The city in question looks similar to New Mombasa, with a similar atmosphere, meaning a Halo x Helldivers 2 crossover could be imminent.
This is reinforced by statements that Pilestedt made previously about crossovers, saying that “crossovers have to make sense.” When Pilestedt drew the line on where crossovers would end, it was just after Halo ODST and before Halo 3, so we are guaranteed not to see Master Chief, but that doesn’t mean that standard soldiers won’t make an appearance. Plus, the release of Helldivers 2 on Xbox would be just the right occasion to bring the franchise into the fray.
