After months of speculation, Nintendo has finally revealed who will be portraying Link and Zelda in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Movie. Shigeru Miyamoto took to Twitter to reveal that our Hylian hero will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and the princess of Hyrule is being delivered by Bo Bragason. We are still just under two years away from the Wes Ball-directed film, so it’s going to be some time before we see these two in action.

This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/KA5XW3lwul

In almost a complete opposite way of operating from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, our Link and Zelda actors are not A-list Hollywood actors like Chris Pratt or Tom Holland, like many people suspected would be the case. Personally, we had no prior knowledge of the Link and Zelda actors. From what we have seen, both are English actors with the Zelda movie seemingly being their biggest projects yet.

Bo Bragason mostly has appeared in a few shorter television series, with her most prominent position being Roxy in a show called Renegade Nell. For Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, he has a lot of time on a show called Son of a Critch, but was also the voice of Pinocchio in the new live action remake and appeared in Flora & Ulysses, The Recycling Man, and The Haunting of Bly Manor.

While there isn’t a lot of room to point to why these two would be a good Link and Zelda in the upcoming movie, we’re just excited to finally have names attached to the roles. Next, we should expect to see announcements of our villain, who will likely be Ganondorf, and then supporting characters like Impa, King Rhombus, and maybe a possible companion. Regardless, it’s so nice to see progress being made on the film.
