Aggro Crab, the developer of Peak, one of the biggest indie games of 2025, has posted a tweet calling out a game made for Roblox that is a “microtransaction-riddled Roblox slop ripoff.” The game is called Cliff, and yeah, at first glance, it seems to be a complete knockoff of the popular title.
While Cliff is technically free-to-play, it does have a few microtransactions for kids to spend their Robux on. These items include a climbing pickaxe to reduce stamina draining, a cosmetic parrot friend, a starter pack with various item boosters, a golden apple, and piano access. If a kid were to buy all items together, they would cost 587 Robux, which is just under $6, so it’s not like the game is forcing people to pay more than Peak’s $8 price tag on Steam.
The Peak Ripoff Game on Roblox
It’s hard for us to really say Cliff is “microtransaction-riddled,” but from the looks of things, it is definitely a knockoff in some gross ways. While Cliff notes in its about section that Peak “inspired” it, the creator couldn’t even go out of their way to make a unique description for the game. Here is Peak’s description on Steam:
PEAK is a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom. Either solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its center. Do you have what it takes to reach the PEAK?
WORK TOGETHER
Need a Hand? You’ll need to rely on your friends to have any hope of scaling the mountain, which changes every single day. Help each other up ledges, or place ropes and climbing spikes to make the way easier for those who come after.
And now Cliff’s (for some reason the game is referred to as Grotto?):
GROTTO is a challenging climbing game where even the smallest mistake can be your downfall. Trapped inside a mysterious cave, your only way to escape is to climb your way to the surface through its winding, treacherous walls. Do you have the skill and courage to make it out alive?
WORK TOGETHER
Need some help? You’ll have to rely on your friends if you want any chance of escaping the depths. The climb is brutal, so help each other up ledges and watch out for hidden dangers to make the journey easier for those who follow your path.
We’ve seen copied homework assignments by middle schoolers with more effort put into making them seem different. Unfortunately, because Cliff is on a platform that is housed by thousands of ripoffs, you likely won’t hear any positive news where the game is taken down or anything. As of this writing, Cliff is sitting at number six on the Roblox top trending games chart, and we doubt that it will go away any time soon.
Personally, we haven’t played either game, so we can’t say for sure that Peak is 100% copied over into Cliff, but after looking at a few videos, it definitely is similar. The person who made it saw that Roblox didn’t have a Peak clone yet and took their chance to get a little money from kids with access to their parent’s wallets.
