Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Roxas decided not to rejoin with Sora in Kingdom Hearts II? If that entire game had you play as the Nobody while Sora continued to sleep, how different would it be? That is what the Kingdom Hearts II fan mod Project: Nobody May Cry aims to explore, and the alpha for it is playable now.

Below is the YouTube release trailer for Project: Nobody May Cry, which seems to have Roxas travel to most of the Kingdom Hearts II worlds in place of Sora. Obviously, the game is not just a simple swap between characters, as we also see him in Traverse Town, which was never in that sequel. Donald and Goofy were left behind to sleep in their pods along with Sora, so it’s mostly just Roxas on his own, but it looks like you can fight alongside Final Fantasy characters in Traverse Town. We also saw Jack Skellington standing around in the trailer, but it is unknown if he or other allies like Aladdin will follow you in this version.

You may have noticed the project name’s relation to Capcom’s Devil May Cry. From what we can see, combat has been overhauled so you can essentially get a combo going forever as long as you don’t get hit or break your combo. You can also see your combo rating in place of the Attack panel while playing. A really cool addition to separate Roxas’ playstyle from Sora’s.

We think Project Nobody May Cry looks really interesting. The mod has been in the works for over three years, and a lot of hard work and love looks to have been put into it. You can support the creator at the links below:
