It was not too long ago that PlayStation announced that Helldivers 2 will be coming to Xbox in a very unprecedented move. With an upcoming launch date of August 26, fans can now celebrate Helldivers 2 on Xbox with a brand new legendary warbond that includes one of Xbox’s most hallowed franchises, Halo.
The Halo ODST and Helldivers 2 collaboration will mark the first ever legendary warbond release in Helldivers 2. As announced via a PlayStation Blog, the ODST warbond lands on August 26 at 5 AM PT and it comes with a slew of shiny new items Halo fans are very familiar with. Coming in at the cost of 1,500 super credits, Arrowhead claims this will be a “step up” from the previous warbond prices which came in at generally 700 super credits. To their credit, the increased price tag does reflect the sheer amount of content that is packed into this warbond. Players can unlock two armor sets that adorn the ODST and Recon kits, three primary weapons, a pistol, and the mean green patterns for the FRV, Exo Suit, Shuttle, and Hellpod, which gives those items that classic Master Chief look.
Arrowhead also added that the legendary war bond is not compatible with the new premium warbond token that is included with the Super Citizen edition launching on the 26th.
The bigger story here is that this Helldivers and Halo ODST collaboration is another hallmark moment in the growing relationship between PlayStation and Xbox. With the exchange of various exclusives between the pair, this looks to be just the start of a new age of how these platforms handle their games going forward.
