Crimson Desert is officially out in the wild, and the response has been fairly positive. Many were unsure about how the game would handle and if it would even run properly. While there are some who are having issues with visuals, the main complaint seems to be the game’s control scheme. If you have played Crimson Desert, you probably know what we are talking about. As many have pointed out, it can be rather difficult to figure the game out, and the number of different button combinations doesn’t help. One of the Crimson Desert developers has responded to these complaints, but the response is a bit lackluster.

Crimson Desert Dev Says it “Takes a Minute” to Get the Controls Down

All over Twitter, players have been sharing their complaints about Crimson Desert’s control scheme. One of the biggest complaints is that the button to loot items is the same as the jump button, making it difficult to pick up items. Another complaint is the number of different button combinations in the game. Some have also complained that interacting with anything is annoying thanks to the need to hold down a focus button to see interaction prompts.

Will Powers, PR and Marketing Director at Pearl Abyss shared a post about the release of Crimson Desert. In response, a user by the name of Bingo stated, “After 4 hours, it’s a really good game IMO; it just needs simplified controls.”

In response to this, Powers responded by saying, “Think of it like riding a bike; it comes naturally after you learn it. Just takes a minute.” After putting over 50 hours into the game ourselves, it is easy to say that it takes a minute to learn the controls, and some of them do come naturally, but there are some improvements that can be made.

For instance, the interact button should be changed to prevent needless jumping. This has affected our ability to steal items, as we sometimes jump into an NPC’s line of sight. Also, some of the button combinations for attacks are similar, which causes us to perform different attacks than we want. There are some fixes you can make on PC by remapping the controls, but on a controller it is a bit more difficult. Hopefully, the developers come up with a way to make the experience a bit better.
