Summer Game Fest: 5 predictions for trailers, reveals, and release dates

Another summer is here, so Geoff Keighley is set to appear on a stage and show some game trailers. Summer Game Fest is currently the highest-profile game showcase since the slow but inevitable fall of E3 in the last six years or so. With many companies being represented, all corners of the gaming industry are ready to see what is on the way. Here are five predictions for what Summer Game Fest 2024 will show.

5 Summer Game Fest predictions

Bioshock 4 gameplay revealed and 2025 release date

Will Bioshcck 4 be revealed at Summer Game Fest 2024?

Bioshock is one of my personal favorite gaming franchises ever, so I have been waiting very impatiently for the next game to be shown off. All we know about it so far is that Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games will not be working on it since they are focused on Judas, which also has my attention. The game was announced in 2019, alongside the founding of the new development studio looking over it called Cloud Chamber Studios. In the years since, we have seen nothing on the new Bioshock game, except some people announcing they joined the team to work on it. 2K has been teasing an update from one of their most beloved franchises at Summer Game Fest 2024, so we would say it is time for the hype to start building on a new Bioshock game.

Alan Wake 2 DLC revealed for late 2024

Alan Wake 2 was unquestionably one of the best games to release in 2023, which was filled with many high-profile blockbusters. We know that DLC is on the way, but not much has been said about it so far. Following the game being announced at The Game Awards 2021, we imagine Geoff Keighley will show off the trailer for the first look at what Alan and Saga will be up to in the Spiral. Both sides are definitely heavily teasing a Summer Game Fest 2024 reveal.

Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi gameplay trailers and late summer 2024 release dates

Image via Sega

Last year. Sega officially announced it is working on rebooting many of its dormant franchises that people have loved in the past. We expect the first of those high-profile games to be shown off are new entries for Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi. We saw quick gameplay snippets at The Game Awards, so it’s time to get release information at Summer Game Fest 2024 and learn how they will operate. Rumors are they will be live service AAA experiences, but hopefully, they will also retain their single-player roots.

New Kingdom Hearts IV trailer for new worlds, no release date

Image via Square Enix

We are looking toward Summer Game Fest 2024 to give us an update on Kingdom Hearts IV. Recently, Square Enix has stated they are no longer looking to make console-exclusive games, so the next largest stage for them to show Kingdom Hearts would be with Geoff Keighley. The game was announced in 2022, so now that Final Fantasy Rebirth is out of the way, we can see more on Sora’s next adventure. We predict that the worlds will be more focused on live action Disney properties rather than the animated classics of the past. Think Star Wars, Marvel, and some of the remade classics recently. We kind of hope we are wrong there, as we love the animated charm, but Sora’s new look has us thinking that’s where we are headed. This series is well known for completely disappearing without a trace, so it might not happen, but we are hopeful.

Ace Attorney 7 revealed, release in 2025

The Ace Attorney games have been getting the remaster treatment for years now. This has helped me become a huge fan of the series, but now I am ready for the story to move forward. While I wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to play more of the backlog, Ace Attorney 7 has been in the works for a while. Hopefully, we can see what is next for Phoenix Wright and company.

Bonus prediction: no Grand Theft Auto VI

Remember in December when everyone was convinced that The Game Awards would have the GTA 6 trailer? Rockstar do their own thing and will show more on their own.
