Throughout the wide outdoors and many dark corridors in Lethal Company, you can be assaulted by many kinds of creepy foes. Monsters are all over the place, and a large majority of them are looking to have a negative effect on you and your allies’ healthy heartbeats. When you come across these creatures, there isn’t one trick that works on all of them. Here are all the monsters in Lethal Company and how to survive them.
Every Lethal Company monster and how to survive them
There are a total of 19 monsters in Lethal Company as of this writing. Here is what you need to know about each one.
Baboon Hawk
Baboon Hawks can be intimidating, but when you see these creatures outside, stick close to your friends and maintain distance from them. They will only attack when you get too close, or the number of Baboon Hawks in the area is equal to or less than the players in the area. Also, if you outnumber them, stare at them consistently and shout at them with the in-game chat to potentially make them stand down and stop following you.
Bracken
There can only be one Bracken in a game at a time, and they are very quiet, only making soft laughter noises, which can be tough to hear if you and your friends are talking. They are also very dark, so in areas with no light, you might only see their eyes like above. With this in mind, you should routinely watch your back. If you come across this shadowy creature, you can momentarily stop it from killing you by very quickly looking at it but don’t stare at it for too long. If you look at it for about four seconds, it will become enraged and aggressively pursue you until you leave the building. Do a quick glance at it to make it stop, and then get away swiftly. It will eventually resume hunting you down. If it catches you, it will instantly kill you and then drag your body to a spot on the map.
Bunker Spider
Bunker Spiders are definitely not what any arachnophobe wants to see in their Lethal Company game. To survive these monsters, avoid touching any webs you see at all costs. Not only will they trap you, but they will alert the spider to your location, and they will chase you for a very long time until they catch you. Luckily, when you are not trapped in a web, you can easily outrun these creatures. Don’t feel safe behind doors, though, as they can open them and attack you.
Circuit Bee
As you might expect from what you know of them in real life, these bees like to protect their hive. If you see a swarm of them outdoors, walk away and continue with your adventure. You could think about grabbing the hive on your return to the ship to sell to the company, but you need to be quick about getting back to the ship and taking off when you have it. Use a friend to distract the swarm away while you grab it.
Coil-Head
Coil-Heads are invincible and extremely fast creatures, but they only move when a player is not staring at them. Look away just for a moment, and they will be on you in a heartbeat. With this in mind, when a Coil-Head makes itself known, designate one player in the area to watch it so the others can loot. Be sure to watch this person’s back so other hostiles don’t take them out. Always make sure someone has an eye on the creature at all times.
Earth Leviathan
Earth Leviathans are gigantic worm creatures that devour you and everything you hold. If you feel the earth start to rumble while you are outside and see ground particles rise into the air, immediately turn around and sprint the way you came from. If you are carrying a heavy item, drop it to give yourself a better chance to survive.
Eyeless Dog
As you might expect from their name, Eyeless Dogs are blind. However, to make up for this, they are really good hearing. When you see one, crouch walk to sneak by it, and don’t talk at all. Don’t turn on or off your walkie-talkie either. These creatures will fully commit to chasing you down, even following you onto the ship if you make enough noise. When you hear its roar, try to dodge its charge, or you will instantly be killed by it.
Forest Keeper
The Forest Keeper is a very large creature that appears outside and will try to grab you and eat you. Do all you can to avoid this enemy seeing you. Hide behind trees, crouch behind boulders, and whatever else you can think of to hide from it. Even if you are inside the ship, it can still grab you if you are close enough to the door. It is deaf, so don’t worry about talking, although remember that noise can attract Eyeless Dogs.
Ghost Girl
The Ghost Girl can only be seen and heard by one player in the game at a time. If you see her, she has chosen to haunt you and will move on to other players if you die either by her or other means. First, the Ghost Girl will toy with you, making soft noises that you can hear and randomly appearing in front of you. You have a couple of times where you can safely see her, but after that, there is a chance she will start chasing you. If you stand in a corner and stare at the room you are in without turning, you can limit the number of times you see her. When you see her start skipping toward you, drop any heavy item you are holding and run away from her. Whatever you do, do not stop moving and get far enough away so you don’t hear her anymore. Until the ship leaves, she will slowly pick everyone in your team off one by one.
Hoarding Bug
Hoarding Bugs love to grab items and will attack you if you take something from their collection or get too close to them for too long. Luckily, these enemies can be killed pretty easily in one-on-one situations when you have a shovel or sign. However, be aware that if you see one, there is potential for a group of other bugs not to be far away. You can also offer them an item you are holding to make them leave you alone momentarily.
Hygrodere
The Hygrodere is a gelatinous Lethal Company monster that will deal a lot of damage to you if you touch it. Luckily, it is very slow-moving, so you can run away from it or potentially jump over it or use rails to get past it. Boomboxes can also play music to attract the slime to a particular area. It can split in two if you hit it, and it can squirm under some doors, so don’t get too comfortable.
Jester
Jesters look like a jack-in-the-box with legs and an arm. At first, they will follow a player around before it starts winding itself up. When the song ends, its freakish skull head will pop out and the Jester becomes a killing machine. It runs very fast and will instantly kill any player it touches. If a Jester is chasing you, your only hope is to go outside as quickly as possible and leave the planet.
Manticoil
Manticoils are outside creatures with four wings and are entirely passive. They pose no threat at all.
Masked
Masked are players who were possessed by the Dramatic Mask loot. Anyone who wears it will die within seconds, or it can come to life when holding it. Once the mask is worn, the only way to survive is if you are teleported before it kills you. Players that die with the mask in their inventory will also be possessed. Upon death, the corpse will reanimate and chase one player at a time. If it catches anyone, it will kill that player and convert them into an additional Masked.
When a Masked is pursuing someone, you can interrupt their attacks with shovels, signs, or other weapon attacks. Be sure to communicate with each other. Masked can only cry or laugh, so while they may seem like a player from far away, use language to tell a friendly from an enemy. They can also leave the facility and are known to go to the ship and stand at the console, so don’t blindly walk in without checking whether they are your teammate or not.
While you can avoid spawning in Masked by never interacting with the Dramatic Mask loot item, some Masked can also natively spawn on Rend and Titan.
Nutcracker
Nutcrackers look just like the nutcrackers you would see around Christmas time. They march around with a double-barreled shotgun they will fire at you. Take cover and wait for them to reload, then run out and attack them with a shovel or sign until they fall over. If you don’t have a weapon on you, remain motionless so they don’t detect you or run down corridors with lots of turns and cover to get away.
Roaming Locust
Roaming Locusts appear outside and are harmless and cannot threaten you in any way.
Snare Flea
Snare Fleas attach to the ceiling and drop down on players who walk by. When they attach to you, you have a small time limit for a teammate to knock them off with a weapon or teleport you back to the ship before you die. If you don’t have help, you can also try and kill yourself by falling or walking over a landmine or picking up a nearby weapon, though those will be tough feats. The best course of action is to watch the ceiling when you explore and don’t let it drop on you.
Spore Lizard
While Spore Lizards look like a terrifying thing out of Pikmin, they are actually pretty harmless. If you threaten them, they might bite you for some damage or release a spray that disorientates you for a little bit, but you can easily avoid them or beat them up with a shovel or sign.
Thumper
Thumpers are one of the more aggressive enemies in Lethal Company. Don’t worry about talking around them, as they can’t hear you, but they have very good eyesight. When they spot you, they will quickly rush towards you and strike. If you are being chased, take as many turns as possible since they can’t turn that well. Keep going until you get out of sight and leave the area they last saw you. Also beware, they can run across gaps like the image above.
