Super Mario Bros. Wonder is quickly approaching, giving us a new look at 2D Mario for the first time in decades. Obviously, this is exciting for platformer fans, but what exactly is changing? Here is everything we know about Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

When does Super Mario Bros. Wonder release?

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set to release on October 20.

All playable characters in Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Here is a list of all known characters that you can play in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Keep in mind that there may be more that become available after playing the game.

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Princess Peach
  • Princess Daisy
  • Yoshi (green, red, blue, or yellow)
  • Toad (blue or yellow)
  • Toadette
  • Nabbit

If you play a Yoshi or Nabbit, you essentially are activating an easy mode and won’t take damage from enemies. That said, you can still die in pits.

Is Super Mario Bros. Wonder multiplayer?

Yes, you can play Super Mario Bros. Wonder with others locally. If you want to play online, things are a little odd. Instead of directly playing with each other, you can jump into each other’s game and see each other transparently. This way, you won’t interfere with each other in the course, but can still bring the other person back to life if you touch their ghost when they die. This is also the case when you see random people playing while you play solo. To turn this off, you will need to play offline.

Is Super Mario Bros. Wonder linear?

For the most part, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a linear game. That said, there will be sections on the world map where you can freely walk around and choose some levels before you go to others.

All Super Mario Bros. Wonder power-ups

As of this writing, we know of a few new power-ups joining one classic.

  • Elephant
  • Bubble
  • Drill
  • Fire flower

Before launch, that is the most important info we know about Super Mario Bros. Wonder. For more details watch the Nintendo Direct focused on the game below.
