Traversing New York City in Spider-Man 2 is all about maintaining your momentum. If you time your swings, jumps, and other movements properly, you can zip and zoom all over the place. While all of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games feel great to move around, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes it to another level with new moves and everything. If you want to get a fast start to your movement, it’s time to pull out a little trick. Here is how to slingshot launch in Spider-Man 2.
How to slingshot yourself in Spider-Man 2
The slingshot launch ability in Spider-Man 2 is the first thing you will unlock under the shared skill tree. Both Peter and Miles can make use of it in just about any scenario. All you need to do is be at a full stop. Hold L2 and X to have your character shoot out two webs and begin leaning back. When they stop moving, your slingshot is at full force. Let go to be flung forward.
Combining this move with your web wings and web-swinging will make it so you can move great distances in a short time. However, there are some details to consider surrounding this ability.
Dotted around the map are super slingshot pads. These don’t appear on your main map, but you can see them on your mini-map as a slingshot icon. Doing the slingshot launch here will guarantee you the most powerful thrust forward and a clear runway to glide and reach those Prowler Stash areas faster.
Also, if you want to get more out of this ability, you can go to the Traversal section in the Suit Tech menu. In the third upgrade slot, you can choose between Acrobat and Charged. The second option will make it so your slingshot launch will send you further with a little more velocity.
