We’ve all seen it too many times. An online only game comes out that you’re excited to play, but the moment you try to login or matchmake, you get nowhere. These situations are incredibly frustrating, especially when you don’t know if the fault is on your side or the game’s servers. You will likely run into this issue now and then with Payday 3. Here is how to check the current status of the game.
Are Payday 3 servers down?
Note: we are now days after the release of Payday 3 and the server issues that plagued the game on launch still pop up frequently. As of this writing, the servers have been down for over four hours, with this Twitter thread being the last update we have heard about the situation.
Unfortunately, as of Payday 3’s launch day, there are a bunch of server issues going on with the game including incredibly slow matchmaking and people not able to even get into the game. We recommend paying attention to the game’s official Twitter for updates on how things are progressing, but you are better off finding something else to play in the meantime while the devs fix the issues. It’s been a lengthy amount of time and doesn’t seem to be getting better.
How to check Payday 3 server status
Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a steady place to find consistent updates on Payday 3 servers. That said, there are a couple of places to check. The Payday Twitter (or X) account will usually give updates if there are large outages or maintenance. Additionally, the Payday subreddit will have other players posting to it or you can post there and ask if the servers are down.
Unfortunately, Payday 3 is an online-only game, so if the servers are down, there is nothing you can do in the game until they are back up. There is no offline mode outside of playing the tutorial if you get in. Our best recommendation is to play something else and keep checking the areas above until things seem to be running well again.
