For fans of the RoboCop movies that began releasing in the late 1980s, not much has been done with the franchise in video games. Back in those days, you would get some tie-in games, and there was even a Terminator crossover at one point, but outside of the character showing up in Mortal Kombat 11, there hasn’t been much on a current timescale. That is changing with RoboCop: Rogue City. A refresh of an old franchise would be a perfect fit for a subscription service. Is RoboCop: Rogue City on Xbox Game Pass?
Will RoboCop: Rogue City ever be on Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately, at least at launch, RoboCop: Rogue City is not a part of Xbox Game Pass. While Xbox did feature the game in its Xbox Partner Preview show a little before release, that was merely to show off the game and not to announce any Game Pass launch plans. It is one of the larger November releases this year, so that’s not entirely surprising, but there is precedent for it to happen.
Xbox has shown a willingness to go out and make a deal with quite a few developers and publishers to bring their games to the subscription service on the day of the game’s launch. The most recent example that could be compared to RoboCop: Rogue City is The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and before that, we have seen Alien games launch in it. For whatever reason, it doesn’t appear that a deal was able to come together this time around if there were any talks to begin with.
While RoboCop: Rogue City will not be on Game Pass at launch, that doesn’t mean it will never be there in the future. We would say it largely depends on how successful it is selling games at launch. If it overperforms, there may be no reason for it to go into the service. At the very earliest, you will probably have to wait at least six months to see if it is announced or not.
