Is Stellar Blade a Souls-like game? It seems like every month there is a new addition to the genre. Since Demon’s Souls was released, many have tried to copy the formula. Some games in the genre, like Lies of P, have seen great success through this means. Others, however, have been buried for not being good enough. So where does Stellar Blade fall on the list? Is it Stellar Blade a souls-like game or is it just an action RPG with some similar elements? We will work to bring you the answer to this conundrum.

What type of game is Stellar Blade?

Simply put, Stellar Blade is an action-adventure/fighting game and not a Souls-like. With that being said, it does offer some similar mechanics that you will be used to if you are a fan of action RPGs. After playing the demo, we know that the game offers a very in-depth world with thrilling boss fights, intense combat, and plenty of sites. There are even hidden chests sitting around the map that you can open but only if you manage to find the right code.

Is Stellar Blade similar to Dark Souls?

While Stellar Blade is not an exact Souls-like game, there are some similarities that we can point out. For starters, Stellar Blade has a camping system that allows you to rest at various checkpoints around the map. This is similar to the Souls games because it respawns enemies, heals Eve, and gives you a place to spend skill points to level up your abilities.

The combat has a similar feel as well. For instance, you can block and parry. Beyond these similarities, Stellar Blade stands out as its own game. Beyond these mechanics, the game is an action-adventure game that is quite fun. Try out the demo if you have not already and see what you think of Stellar Blade.
