Starfield – How to turn on flashlight

Do you need to use the flashlight in Starfield? You have many tools at your disposal as you explore the many planets of this massive game. Items such as the Boost Pack allow you to explore new heights and Digipicks will help you break into builds. Depending on how you use your tools, you will have an easier or more difficult time in the game.

If you want to see in the dark, you will need to use your flashlight. This useful tool will help you see in shadowy areas that you otherwise would be too dark to see. While the flashlight isn’t the most effective tool, it is better than roaming around blind. This guide will show you how to use the flashlight in Starfield.

How to use the flashlight in Starfield

If you want to use the flashlight in Starfield, you can do so by following the steps below:

  • On PC: Hold the F Key to turn the flashlight on and off
  • On Xbox Series X/S: Hold the LB Button to turn the flashlight on and off

You will be taught how to use your flashlight early in the game. During the tutorial, you will need this tool to see as you make your way to the artifact. You can switch the button needed to turn the flashlight on and off by going to the menu. This is done by pressing the start button on Xbox or the ESC key on PC. Once you are in the menu, select the bindings option. This will open another menu that gives you the option to change your key bindings. In this menu, you can change the key or button needed to operate the flashlight.

The button to use this tool is the same button needed to use your scanner. Remember this before you go into the menu to alter which button is required to operate it. You can also set an alternate key if you would like to have multiple options to turn it on and off though this is optional.
