While online video games are great for enjoying competition with friends, there will always be times when they run into problems. When servers go down, it doesn’t matter what you are trying to do; you will not get the full experience. In the case of Overwatch 2, Blizzard usually does a decent job of keeping the game running, but even it will run into issues now and then. Here is how to check Overwatch 2’s server status and see if the game is down right now.

Is Overwatch 2 currently down?

As of 8:30 PM CT on July 12, 2023, Overwatch 2 seems to be having some server issues. While people have been able to get into the game’s menus and look at their stuff, the game is not currently letting anyone into any game modes, even Practice Range. We recommend signing off for a bit and playing a different game while Blizzard works to fix whatever is keeping players out of games and keep up to date with the Blizzard Customer Service Twitter account.

[#Overwatch2] We are aware of an issue where players are experiencing difficulty accessing certain game content. We are currently investigating and working to resolve this as soon as possible.

How to check if Overwatch 2 servers are down

If you are having problems getting Overwatch 2 to work, you should check various sources first to confirm the game is having problems and it is not on your end. First, we recommend seeing the Blizzard Customer Service Twitter account, as they usually keep players updated on various issues any Blizzard game faces.

If they have not updated anyone on any Overwatch 2 issues, we recommend checking DownDetector. This site solely focuses on user reports, so if there are any issues, you can see what other players are saying about it and see a timeline for how long those issues have been happening.

Alternatively, you can also check any of the server pages for the various platforms the game is on below:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation
  • Xbox
