Hate comments are only natural when it comes to online games and Helldivers 2 is no different. Since launch, the Arrowhead team has needed to deal with unruly players which has become even more evident since the Sony debacle at the start of May. When this occurred, multiple community managers and developers were getting death threats. Some of them even got doxxed, having players reveal the CMs’ locations and personal information. The recent hate has prompted the new CEO of Arrowhead to issue a formal statement regarding his new role in the company as well as community feedback.
In a post on Reddit, Shams Jorjani, the new CEO of Arrowhead, released a rather long statement about him and his thoughts about Helldivers 2/Arrowhead. He released the post under the name BigKahuna_AGS. In the post, he details information about his career and how he and Johan Pilestedt (the former CEO turned CCO) got started in gaming. He also shared some of his favorite games.
Most importantly, he shared his thoughts on the community. While he loves the Helldivers 2 community, he recognizes that some players have gone too far. To this, he stated, “We share well-articulated feedback about the game internally, it really resonates and makes it easier for us to do our jobs. We don’t, however, circulate the posts where we’re told to go jump off a cliff – even if they might have excellent design feedback.”
That’s right, the posts that show criticism but at the same time have vague or very obvious threats to the developers will go completely ignored even if the player is making a good suggestion. Really, the new Helldivers 2 CEO is calling for peace from the community and wants everyone to be civil. Jorjani even stated that he and Pilestedt “will be more active the more civil and fun things are.” Keep this in mind the next time you are offering up some diverse exosuit ideas or complaining about how bad the Emancipator is.
