Baldur’s Gate 3 crossplay will finally be coming to the game next year alongside other community-requested features in the final big update for the title. While we don’t have an exact window for when it will hit the live game, the stress test for these features will happen in early January for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Everyone will have access shortly after. Larian posted a Steam blog detailing the update, which includes a bunch of new subclasses and a photo mode.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Crossplay
It’s a bit disappointing that we’ve had to wait so long to get crossplay in Baldur’s Gate 3, but the wait will finally be over with this patch early next year. Like with many other games, you will need to link a Larian account and then add your friends to an in-game friend list to play with them on different platforms. Crossplay is available on all platforms, so there are no weird stipulations keeping friends from joining each other’s campaigns.
Subclasses
A total of 12 new subclasses are being added to Baldur’s Gate 3 next year, one for each class. Just a few examples of new ways to alter your party are Swashbuckler for Rogues, Hexblade for Warlocks, and Path of Giants for Barbarians. Check the link above to get an outline of all the new subclasses and how they will directly change the way you approach problems.
Photo mode
If you are into capturing the perfect shot, photo mode will also be making its way into Baldur’s Gate 3. From what we have seen, it looks like the features here will be pretty standard compared to other recent games. Character poses, lighting changes, frames, and stickers will all be there for you to play with.
The game has had quite the run, and crossplay is quite the way to send off Baldur’s Gate 3. Needless to say, we are all very interested to see what the future holds for Larian Studios.
