Recently, Dead by Daylight game director Mathieu Cote was featured in an interview entirely spoken in French with YouTuber Sawpalin, where he revealed that Behaviour Interactive has been in talks with Disney to bring Darth Vader to the game as a potential killer. Needless to say, this news has stirred up quite the discussion among the community about whether Star Wars deserves to be in the horror game or not.
Should Dead by Daylight add Darth Vader?
Looking at the Dead by Daylight subreddit shows many takes about Star Wars being added to the game, whether it happens or not. On one hand, Star Wars is definitely in no way considered a horror franchise. However, if you were to think about intimidating presences in media, Darth Vader would definitely be one that sits near the top of the list. We think he could make a very interesting and different killer in the game. Using his force choke to carry survivors to hooks and slashing people down with his lightsaber would be quite the sight.
It’s also important to note that not everyone in Dead by Daylight is directly a horror character. Vecna from Dungeons & Dragons shows exactly how Vader could fit in on the killer side. On the survivors’ end, Geralt from The Witcher was just added as a cosmetic and Lara Croft is well-known for her adventure games. Those games can have horror elements, and we would say Anakin marching through the fog would definitely fit the same kind of niche.
Even if Darth Vader somehow gets added to the game in the future, we don’t see a world where Disney would be okay with characters like Luke, Rey, or Chewbacca being thrown onto meat hooks and sacrificed to The Entity. That said, hopefully, we could get some cool cosmetics thrown into the game?
