The official Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer has been released and it has given us great insight into what lies in the land of shadow. As many have prophesized, it seems to focus on Miquella – a character only talked about in the base game. Not only did we get a look at what areas are meant to come, but we also saw many new weapons and bosses. On top of all of that, we have an official release date for the DLC. Let’s break down the trailer.
The trailer began with the egg placed on the altar in the back of the boss arena where you fight Mohg. We believe this is to show us how we access the DLC once it is released in the future. After this, we get some shots of what we believe will be new NPCs that we will meet during our journey with some looking similar to Carian Knights and others bearing striking similarities to the Great Horned Tragoth.
Throughout the trailer, we saw clips of our character riding Torrent through a new swamp location with dead trees and a strange hut. There was also a glimpse of our character jumping up a pillar in a lava-filled location.
Along with these shots, we got a look at some upcoming weapon arts, new weapons, and even bosses. For starters, a new weapon art featuring a flurry of kicks was shown off, another looked as though the player dodged and did a slash similar to the Bloodhound Step. As far as weapons go, one seemed to be twin-throwing daggers that come back to you once thrown. Another weapon is a giant version of the Ritual Pots. A new crossbow appears to fire several shots in a row when you pull the trigger. Finally, a new spell has that hue as though it may involve Scarlet Rot.
Plenty of bosses appear in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer. For starters, we saw another variant of the Erdtree Sentinet that appears to use gravity magic based on the purple lightning effect. Another looked like a horse with a headless rider. Finally, we saw who we assume is Miquella attacking the player at the end with a fiery torrent of attacks.
Through it all, we got an official release date of June 21, 2024. While this is still a ways away, we are excited to finally have a date to look forward to for this DLC. It is pre-orderable now and you can even get a statue with it.
