The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring is going to be released soon. Before hopping into the DLC, you will need to take down one of the many tough bosses that Elden Ring has to offer. Specifically, you need to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood. Unfortunately, this is a feat that not everyone has accomplished. If you want to get into the DLC, you will need to make your way to the arena, defeat Mohg, and interact with the Cocoon of the Empyrean on the altar in the back of the boss arena. Let’s break down all of these steps to help you get into the DLC when it is released.

Where to find Mohg, Lord of Blood in Elden Ring

There are two versions of Mohg in Elden Ring. The version you will likely discover first is Mohg, The Omen. This boss can be found deep in the Leyndell sewers beneath Leyndell, Royal Captial. If you want to reach the Lord of Blood variant of this boss, you will need to reach the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum section of Siofra River.

There are two methods of reaching Mohgwyn Palace. First, you can play through the game until you reach the consecrated Snowfield. Once there, you can interact with a teleporter on the western edge of the map. This will take you to the underground area. Second, you can follow White Mask Varré’s questline. Doing this will bring you to the palace much quicker but it requires you to do some invading.

Getting to Mohg is only part of the task. To access the DLC, you must defeat this behemoth which is much easier said than done. Before going into this fight, we recommend grabbing the Purifying Crystal Tear from the Second Church of Marika on Altus Plateau. To obtain this item, you will need to defeat Eleonora. Once this is done, make a potion using the tear and it will make the fight against Mohg easier. Specifically, you will need to drink this concoction when Mohg uses his blood attack that drains your HP from across the arena. You can also choose to heal through this using your flask if you want.

With all of that done, you will be ready to enter the DLC. When Shadow of the Erdtree goes live, simply interact with the Cocoon of the Empyrean and you will be granted access to the new area. We recommend that you get to at least level 100 before attempting the DLC since it can be rather difficult. Be sure to also know some of the other great bosses in Elden Ring to challenge before you attempt the DLC.
