The official Foamstars release date for Foamstars has been revealed to be February 6, 2023. That’s right. It is only a few weeks away from the writing of this article so you better come prepared if you plan on playing this off-the-wall shooter game.
Many have compared Foamstars to Splatoon — Nintendo’s paint-style shooter game. It is easy to see the similarities but it seems like Square Enix is changing things up with some new game modes. In a blog post released alongside the release date announcement, Square detailed a few of the game modes you can expect in Foamstars. Let’s break down these details.
Foamstars gets more game modes
As stated in the PlayStation Blog Post, there are “three foamtastic game modes” you can prepare for. These are:
- Smash the Star
- Happy Bath Survival
- Rubber Duck Party
Each of these game modes plays slightly differently from the next and has its own objective. For starters, in Smash the Star, the teams must work together to take down the opposing team’s star player. In Happy Bath Survival, half of each team will be placed outside of the arena. The goal is to take down the opposing team’s players who are inside the arena. Finally, in Rubber Duck Party both teams will rush to the center of the arena to gain control of the rubber duck.
Enjoy Foamstars solo or with friends
Don’t think that you have to play online to enjoy Foamstars; you can also play solo missions. These missions can also be played with up to three friends in co-op. These solo and squad missions allow you to try out the six characters to see which one you prefer.
During squad missions, you and your friends will be able to upgrade your Foamstars with different effects earned by clearing waves. On top of this, there are challenges to complete. These include anytime, events, and weekly challenges. Finally, Foamstars will be getting continued support with seasons for one year after the release.
