While the plan was to reveal Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer on Tuesday morning, Rockstar has set it live a little early after it leaked online. While none of the footage shows any gameplay, the 90-second GTA VI first trailer gives us a look at the game’s take on Vice City, as well as the 2025 release window.
Needless to say, GTA VI is one of the most anticipated video games of all time, so just about everyone is ready to see what is to come after a full decade spent in Grand Theft Auto V. Apparently, someone on social media couldn’t wait any longer and posted the video early, so Rockstar went ahead and set their official version live so you can watch it now above.
In the trailer, we get our first official look at Lucia, one of the leaked protagonists of GTA VI, who supposedly starts the game in jail. The trailer then moves on to show the beautiful colors Vice City has to share at night and all the people who visit its beaches. You get a good feeling of that classic Grand Theft Auto chaos at play here, with many of the civilians shown being quite “rowdy,” to say the least.
As mentioned above, there is no gameplay shown here, but all of this looks to be in-engine. As you would expect for the first Grand Theft Auto since 2013, GTA VI’s trailer looks beautiful, and hopefully, the citizens around you are as lively as they appear to be here when the game comes out. We wouldn’t mind getting to wrestle some gators, and there was even a hint at driving a hovercraft through a swampy area.
While Rockstar definitively marked 2025 as the current planned release for GTA IV at the end of this trailer, don’t be surprised if this gets pushed into 2026. Game development is challenging, and who knows how many more leaks we will see until then. With so many eyes on this game like never before, there is an immense amount of pressure on the company to get it right.
