The 42nd hero coming to Overwatch 2 is Hazard, a new Tank that was teased previously with one of the spawn rooms on the Oasis map being broken into. We currently know very little about him besides he will be added to the game full-time at the start of Season 14 on December 10. Players will be able to try him out for the first time this coming weekend. A short video of him and his gang of “Phreaks” robbing Oasis can be found on the official PlayOverwatch YouTube channel.

As for a rundown of what happens in the animated cinematic, Hazard and the Phreaks break into Oasis University and steal a purple fluid from a spiky gelatinous ball that has been in the game since the map’s debut in 2017. Hazard has one of his lackeys insert the fluid into him, and it seems to supercharge him, as well as make purple spikes appear from his back.

We imagine the fluid being inserted has to do with Hazard’s ultimate, but the animation style is kind of hard to make out what happens and a lot happens in that few seconds. One moment, he’s slamming the ground; the next, he seems to slow down time as he shoots up security and explodes a ball of purple goo. He also makes purple spikes rain down on enemies. It’s hard to guess what could be moves in the game and what is just there for cinematic effect.

As stated above, we really still don’t know much about Hazard in Overwatch 2 besides what he looks like and that we’ll be able to give him a try this weekend. He appears to be one of the most augmented characters in the Overwatch world, which is saying something when you have people like Sojourn there. We also don’t know who voices him yet. A lot of those questions should be expected to be answered Friday morning during the Overwatch Championship Series broadcast.
