For a while now, Helldivers 2 players have been poking Arrowhead employees asking them to add more biomes to the game. Specifically, many have asked for the inclusion of city biomes so they can explore destroyed buildings and vacant city streets. Unfortunately, no biome such as this exists in Helldivers 2 but there is a new biome that players have access to and it is on the planet Gacrux. This biome was first shown off when the Viper Commandos Warbond was shown off for Helldivers 2.
One of the planets recently unlocked in the game is called Gacrux and it is home to a dense forest with danger lurking around every corner. Massive trees and a slight fog block your line of sight. It is almost like exploring the dense forests of Vietnam during the war which matches perfectly with the theme of the Viper Commandos Warbond.
User RainbowSix_Glaz took to Reddit to share their excitement about the new biome. Unsurprisingly, many players share the same sentiment as the one who posted the images. One user said, “Yeah, it’s awesome,” while another user said, “It’s one of the most beautiful planets I’ve been on.” Seeing how beautiful the planet it, it is a shame that the latest Major Order doesn’t have players attacking this planet. Instead, it is focused on five other planets; Nivel 43, Hellmire, Estanu, Crimsica, and Fori Prime.
Some players have noticed that certain Stratagems don’t work in the new biome. For instance, one user stated that their Eagles “usually hit the trees.” Another user pointed out that the stratagems do state they “won’t always be useful in certain situations.” While this is far from the dense cityscape that many were hoping we would get, it is nice to finally have a new biome to explore. This opens up new ways to play the game but we still are holding out for futuristic city maps later on.
