Those familiar with Magic: The Gathering may remember the Eldrazi. They were part of an adventure card set from 2009 that took place in a new plane called Zendikar. Now these powerful titans are coming back in a new Commander deck called Modern Horizons 3.
The Eldrazi are planar-threatening beings. They leave a path of destruction in their wake, and could argumentatively be one of the most powerful villains within Magic lore. The Modern Horizons 3 set has new versions of these Eldrazi as well as returning versions.
Along with this new announcement, Magic has promised a republishing of a classic storyline about the Eldrazi. These stories have not been rewritten or changed outside of some transitional content to keep each story flowing seamlessly from one to another. They also will contain some card previews! The first story wave, The Eldrazi Awaken, is currently ready to read on Magic: The Gathering’s website. The second story wave, Battles at the Brink, will be published May 15th. And the final story wave, Zendikar’s Last Stand, will be out May 19th. Across the three waves will be 30 stories in total.
Following these three stories, there will be a Modern Horizons 3 live stream on May 21st beginning at 9 a.m. PT which is sure to provide more details about the cards.
Modern Horizons 3 is expected to be released on June 14th. Card sets are available for pre-order on Amazon, at local game stores, and anywhere else you regularly get your Magic: The Gathering cards!
