If you haven’t heard, Multiversus will be shutting down after season five ends at the end of May. This gives players a little over three months to enjoy the game online with their friends. After May 30, 2025, the game will be taken offline. Don’t worry; you will still be able to enjoy the game offline. While this is sad news, what came after the announcement proves to be even worse as the director of Multiversus has responded to various threats from the community that the developers received over the weekend. In the post, Tony Huynh stated, “You’re entitled to what you say and think, but when there are threats to harm it’s crossing the line.”

Multiversus director responds to threats

On Sunday, Multiversus director Tony Huynh released a rather long statement on his X page talking about the current state of the game and events that occurred over the weekend since the announcement of the game’s end. Huynh began the post by saying, “While I’m sad about the outcome, I will forever be grateful for the opportunity given to us by Warner Bros. Games and to each and every developer on the Player First Games and WB Games teams.” He then went on to thank the fans for their support over the years through “fan art, character ideas, and personal stories.”

Unfortunately, part of the post required Huynh to call out some unexpected messages from community members. Later in the post, the director stated, “I know that this is painful for everyone, and I know every member of PFG feels it too, but I have to call this out, you’re entitled to what you say and think, but when there are threats to harm it’s crossing the line. I hope that you can take a step back and realize that this is an extremely sad time for the team. I am in deep mourning for the game. Nobody wanted this outcome, and it wasn’t from lack of caring or effort.”

In the end, Huynh said that he hopes “that season five is enjoyed with the time we have left” and that he hopes the community will “continue supporting other platform fighter and fighting games.”
