Rollin’ Rascal, one of the more interesting indie games that we have our eyes on, has finished a very successful Kickstarter campaign. After a late surge before the campaign’s end, the game exceeded $240,000 in funding. The developer, Curiomatic, now has a concrete plan in front of it to focus on as it moves forward with development.
Rollin’ Rascal’s Kickstarter campaign started in February, and the $50,000 needed for funding the base game was reached within 12 hours. Rewards reached before the campaign’s end include a port for Xbox, various costumes, a hard mode, more animations, and a mode with even higher speeds. The game is already coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch (likely the Switch 2), but a PlayStation port goal was not reached. Other goals that weren’t reached include a secret boss, boss rush mode, and a couple of mystery goals.
While there are some disappointing things not planned for the game currently, the goals listed above accompany a hub world, custom lobbies for multiplayer, and various character customization tools.
It’s great to see Rollin’ Rascal have a successful campaign on Kickstarter. The game has very clearly been inspired by 3D Sonic the Hedgehog games and focuses on high-speed platforming challenges. One thing it does that Sega’s mascot has never really approached is online multiplayer races with quite a few players. We’re excited to see what Curiomatic can cook up.
Unfortunately, development for Rollin’ Rascal is still too early for anyone to give a concrete release date for the game. That said, it seems the current plan is hopefully in summer 2026 if the estimated delivery dates for rewards on the Kickstarter page mean anything. Delays happen, though, so don’t look at that as a solid promise.
