Square Enix has made some rather strange moves during its existence but somehow things keep getting weirder. While our bingo card for 2025 includes the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 and the possible release of GTA VI, we did not expect Square Enix to suddenly make a Chocobo-themed Steam Deck. To help celebrate Final Fantasy VII Rebirth being Steam Deck verified, the company shaved the feathers off of one of its feathery friends and coated three Steam Decks. Don’t worry, the feathers can be removed.

Many shocking reveals have been made recently with Nintendo finally revealing the Nintendo Switch 2 in a short trailer. It is also heavily rumored that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will not only be on PC but eventually find its way to Nintendo’s next console.

Square Enix creates Chocobo-themed Steam Decks

Square Enix recently confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is Steam Deck verified via a post on its X page where the company gave fans a short look at the game being run on the handheld system. Later in the day, the company returned to its X page to announce its Chocobo-themed Steam Decks.

Square Enix stated in the post that the Chocobo Steam Deck is “one of three.” Venturing onto Square Enix’s website, a post reads, “As for how you might get it… well, it’s just a sneak peek for now. But you keep your eye on social media, and you may learn more soon!” There is no confirmation as to when the Steam Decks will be available but more information will be revealed soon.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be coming to PC on January 23, 2025, and is not officially confirmed to be Steam Deck verified. Just make sure that you don’t coat your current Steam Deck in feathers to celebrate as it could be a potential fire hazard.
