Streamer works up a sweat beating Elden Ring’s Malenia using motion controls

If you thought your heart was pumping facing off against the toughest boss in Elden Ring, just wait until you see Luality take down Malenia using nothing but her body. In the year + since release, we’ve seen all sorts of insane ways players have beat this optional superboss, including using a dance pad, one handed, and even controlling two characters at once, but the bar has once again been raised with this feat.

WE JUST BEAT MALENIA USING MOTION CONTROLS!!!! I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! pic.twitter.com/gBdIiRu2Je

— Luality (@luality) May 5, 2023

As you can see in the clip, Luality controls their character using a combination of foot, shoulder, and arm gestures to move, attack, heal, and roll. A heart rate monitor also shows the streamer’s BPM in the lower left corner, which gets as high as 195 BPM during the most intense moments of the fight, to which Luality comments “we almost BOTH DIED!!”

After the boss finally fell, Luality fell to her knees in tears before exclaiming, “First try, easy! No deaths!”

While the clip shows the impressive victory over Malenia, it was certainly not “first try” as the streamer joked upon victory. What was left out was the over five hours of attempts prior in this stream alone. Luality’s motion-controlled run began in February, with regular progress being made up until this massive accomplishment.

As fans eagerly await Armored Core 6 coming August 25 of this year, and the Elden Ring DLC at an unknown date, the creative challenge runs people online are creating continue to breathe fresh life into this passionate community.
