The Overwatch Spotlight has revealed that the game’s hero roster is expanding in a big way, with five new heroes all being added to the game at once next week. Additionally, every season throughout 2026 will add another hero, so the previous alternating season schedule is not in play this year.

As of now, we don’t know anything about the future season additions outside of their silhouettes. Let’s focus more on the newcomers to the roster in Season 1 of The Reign of Talon next week.

With all the heroes coming to Overwatch next week, a few have been teased very recently, one has been talked up as a joke for years, and the other is a complete surprise. With one tank, two damage, and two supports added to the mix, you could create a standard 5v5 team with these newcomers.

Anran

It’s been known that Anran would eventually be brought to Overwatch ever since her brother, Wuyang, was added back in August. The two were both invited by Winston to join the new Overwatch after they helped defend a Null Sector invasion. She is the lone hero who will be playable in a hero trial starting tomorrow until the new season starts next Tuesday.

Anran is a damage hero who wields fire, shooting fiery projectiles out of her fans. She is a highly mobile flanking character who inflicts burning damage over time to her foes. Inferno Rush has her dash forward while damaging enemies she runs into, and Dancing Blaze hits close enemies and avoids all incoming damage.

Her ultimate has two separate uses. When dead, she can use it to instantly revive herself like a phoenix with an explosion, and when alive, she charges forward and explodes on impact while lighting enemies on fire.

Domina

Domina is a new tank addition to Overwatch and was recently teased in a short conversation with Vendetta, though she was covered in shadow in that video. Now we can see the Vishkar Corporation’s vice president in action.

Domina will be the first barrier hero added to the game since Sigma in 2019. She puts out a barrier in front of her that has multiple segments to be destroyed before it fully goes away. Her main attack is a medium-range beam shot from her Photon Magnum, and her abilities include throwing out an explosive crystal that she manually detonates and pushing enemies back with her Sonic Repulsors and stunning them if they bash into a wall.

Domina’s ultimate is called Panopticon and creates an imprisoning projectile that will explode after a little bit of time.

Emre

Emre has been a character that people have wondered about ever since his first appearance in Ana’s origin trailer back in 2016. Freja was recently employed by Maximillien to hunt him down, encountering him and learning that he was affiliated with Talon, and seems to be under the cybernetic control of the conspiracy party that Sombra had encountered in the past.

Emre is another damage hero who is a mobile soldier archetype that could be compared to Soldier: 76 and Sojourn. His main fire is a three-round burst that can be aimed down for further away enemies, and his abilities include a bouncing grenade and a semi-automatic explosive pistol that heals him when he deals damage.

Override Protocol sees Emre being taken over and becoming the killing machine seen in Freja’s comic. He will be able to fire debilitating explosive blasts and charged “mega-shots.”

Mizuki

Mizuki is a character who has not been teased until this point, and little is known about him other than he is a member of the Hashimoto clan, whom Kiriko is fighting in her hometown of Kanezaka.

Mizuki’s main fire is throwing a spirit glaive that spins and deals quick damage. For healing, he has a small aura around him, plus his ability Healing Kasa will throw his hat that bounces off of allies, healing everyone it hits before coming back to him. He also has the Binding Chain ability that will hinder an enemy, and Katashiro Return gives him a chance to jump into a fight and quickly recall to the place he first used the ability.

Mizuki’s ultimate is called Kekkai Sanctuary, which will heal allies inside its radius while absorbing projectiles shot at it from outside of the radius. It appears that enemies still deal damage when inside of it, though.

Jetpack Cat

If you have been waiting for an oddball hero addition to Overwatch, you have got it with the long-awaited Jetpack Cat. While we don’t know the in-game lore of this particular cat, Jetpack Cat was a hero idea that was scrapped many years ago in Overwatch’s early days, and was teased as a joke when Brigitte was added to the game, making many think that her cat, Mitzi, may one day take on the role. However, this cat’s name is Fika, and we don’t know more about her as of this writing.

Jetpack Cat will be the second support in this batch of Overwatch heroes, and is more focused on healing than Mizuki. Her main fire is a mid-range projectile that will heal allies while damaging enemies, similar to Ana and Juno’s main fires. She also has an ability called Lifeline, which will grab an ally and allow you to tow and heal them. Frenetic Flight accelerates your movement, and Purr will heal nearby allies while knocking back enemies.

Finally, Jetpack Cat’s ultimate is called Catnapper. She will dive towards the ground, knocking down enemies and tethering the closest one.
