Rocksteady Adds Assassin’s Creed Veteran as New Game Director

Rocksteady has added a new game director to its staff as the development team continues early production on what is presumably their next Batman game. The new hire is Bill Money, who posted he was making the transition about a month ago. For the last decade, Money has been hard at work at Ubisoft Singapore, where he was the game director on games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Mirage, while also having a hand in Origins and Skull & Bones.

Is Bill Money a Good Choice for Rocksteady?

While Money is making the move over to Rocksteady, this is not his first time working under Warner Bros., or even with Batman for that matter. He did help work on the underrated Batman: Arkham Origins with WB Montreal. The experience there and with Assassin’s Creed likely played a big role in helping him secure the spot with Rocksteady, who had posted a job listing earlier this year looking for a director with experience with third-person action games, melee brawlers, and open world traversal. Of course, that description fits a new Arkham game perfectly, and Assassin’s Creed definitely shares some similarities with its balancing of combat and stealth.

While we are largely assuming that Rocksteady’s next game is another Batman Arkham title, we don’t know that for sure. It is definitely what the studio is known for, and with the disappointing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League behind us now, the team might be looking to go back to its roots. Superman or any of the other Justice League members could be considered for the next game, but Batman is the safer bet going forward. Even without the late Kevin Conroy, Roger Craig Smith can take on the role of Bats, as he did in Origins and the VR-only Batman: Arkham Shadow.
