Time is up, Vault Dwellers! Since the second season of the Fallout series began, there has been a mysterious countdown timer on the show’s page on Amazon. Of course, seeing this caused everyone’s curiosity to peak. Many believed wholeheartedly that this countdown timer was anticipating a new announcement from Bethesda, and with the Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas Remakes being rumored, it wasn’t hard to put two and two together. Unfortunately, the Fallout countdown timer didn’t lead to the remakes. It didn’t even lead to an announcement. Instead, it led to another behind-the-scenes look at the show.

Fallout Countdown Timer Didn’t Lead to an Announcement

When the Fallout countdown timer first appeared, many were confused by it. The timer ended at midnight on February 4th, which coincides with the release date of the Fallout season two finale. Many immediately thought this would turn out to be something huge, like the announcement of the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remakes. Some even believed that Bethesda would do what it did with the Oblivion remake and shadowdrop them when the timer hit zero.

Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a game, that didn’t come. Instead, the countdown timer leads to a new node on the map labeled “Penthouse.” This node takes you straight to a three-dimensional map of the Lucky 38 penthouse, where you can walk around and explore. This is interesting for those who like the show and want a deeper look into its creation, but it is far from what fans were hoping for.

In this recreation of the Lucky 38 penthouse, you can interact with Mr. House’s computer to get various behind-the-scenes looks at the show. For instance, you can get before-and-after photos of the Lucky 38 exterior or a look into the show’s costume design. Again, it’s interesting, but a bit disappointing for those who were expecting more.
