According to Deadline, the upcoming God of War show for Amazon Prime has chosen Ryan Hurst to play Kratos. If that name sounds familiar, it might be because he was the voice actor for Thor in God of War: Ragnarok. He’s also appeared in quite a few notable projects, including The Walking Dead, Bates Motel, Remember the Titans, and more.

God of War Show Has Found Its Kratos

The God of War show is currently in pre-production, with Hurst being the first announced role for the show. This series is set to follow the story introduced in the 2018 God of War game, so we have yet to hear who will be playing Atreus, Baldur, Freya, or Mimir.

If this show follows the same kind of show-making as The Last of Us, you can expect some key differences between the game and show, but we would be surprised if there were too many gigantic deviations away from a story that was loved so much in 2018.

If you were looking for a big guy with a beard to play Kratos, we would say Ryan Hurst definitely appears to fit that role. We will be interested to see how close he decides to use his voice to mimic Christopher Judge’s iconic performance.

Speaking of Judge, he has in the past said he would like to play Kratos in the show, and (of course) many fans latched onto that. He shot down a rumor that he accepted the role back in September. We would be interested to see if he ends up with a different role in the show as a cameo.

As of now, there is no official release date set for the God of War Prime series. Castings are obviously now beginning to be announced, and filming is reportedly to begin in Vancouver this March.
