There is no denying that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring is a bit more difficult than the base game. FromSoftware created the DLC with the high-level grinding of players in mind. That being said, since the DLC is more difficult, there is a new way to buff yourself to get an edge on your opponents and not be buried in the ash. If you want to succeed in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you will want to get your hands on Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ash. But what are these items and what makes them so important in the DLC?

How do Scadutree Fragments work in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

Scadutree Fragments are a new item that you can get in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring. Each time you find two of these fragments, you can bring them to a Site of Grace. Once this is done, you will see a new option in the menu that says Shadow Realm Blessing. The fragments will boost your stats while you are in the Shadow Realm, making you stronger and able to take more of a beating from your enemies.

The Scadutree blessing is more important than your base level in the DLC. It basically allows players who are lower level and high-level to be on the same playing field though higher-level characters will still get a buff. Once you leave the Shadow Realm and return to the Lands Between, the blessing will disappear, returning once you go back to the Shadow Realm.

What are Revered Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

Similar to Scadutree Fragments, Revered Spirit Ash is another item that grants a buff in the Shadow Realm. This one, however, does not affect your character. Instead, Revered Spirit Ash affects your Spirit Summons – granting them a buff similar to to the one you are granted by the fragments. Once again, this buff only applies to your summons whenever you are in the Shadow Realm. Outside of this area, your Spirit Summons will not get an additional buff.

After collecting some of these ashes, you will be able to use them when you go to a Site of Grace. While resting, select the Shadow Realm Blessing option and choose to use your Revered Spirit Ashes. This will allow you to buff your summons.
