Depending on your build in Fallout 76, grenades can be a very useful tool. There are multiple perks that give you buffs if you are using explosive weapons. Those who decide to go with an explosive build will have a blast (pun intended) blowing enemies away with these projectiles. Fallout 76 teaches you a lot about the game, but it doesn’t show you how to throw grenades or other weapons. Luckily, there isn’t much to it. Here is how to throw grenades and other weapons in Fallout 76.
How do you throw grenades in Fallout 76?
To throw grenades or other weapons, you first need to go into your Pip-Boy menu. This is done by pressing the circle button on PlayStation, the B button on Xbox, or the tab key on PC. With the menu up, go over to the items tab. From there, select the weapons tab and choose what weapon you’d like to throw. You can have one primary weapon equipped and one type of thrown weapon equipped.

With your weapon equipped, simply hold R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox, or Left Alt on PC. While holding this button or key, you will be able to aim your thrown weapon. When you release the button, it will go flying through the air to wherever you were aiming. Be careful not to tap the button mentioned previously. This will cause you to bash with your weapon instead of throw a grenade and you don’t want to accidentally perform the wrong action when you run into a pack of wild mongrels.
Perks that benefit grenades in Fallout 76
There are multiple perks that benefit grenades in Fallout 76. If you plan on making a build centered around explosives, we recommend starting with the Grenadier perk. This increases the radius of your throw explosives so they hit more targets. We also recommend using the Fire in the Hole perk as this will allow you to see an arc on your screen when aiming your grenades. It also allows you to throw grenades further – a useful tool when combined with the increased explosive radius from the Grenadier perk.
