When exploring Baldur’s Gate 3, there are countless fascinating items and equipment to find throughout the game. One such example is the Underdark’s Devilfoil Mask, a quirky little object that can greatly influence you and your party’s stats. But where do you locate the Devilfoil Mask?

Where to find the Devilfoil Mask

Welcome to the Underdark! If you want to get the Devilfoil Mask, you’ll need to progress your game into Act 2 and head into the infamous Underdark. In particular, you’ll find the DevilFoil Mask in the Grymforge. This is a part of the Underdark that you reach by boat. There are actually four Devilfoil Masks in the Grymforge, which means you can give one to each of your party members.

The Devilfoil Masks in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be found in the following Grymforge locations:

  • Atop the table in the main hall
  • By the cave-in, beside the skeleton
  • Atop the altar in the same room as the Merregon Legionnaire
  • Dropped by the Merregon Legionnaire himself

What does the Devilfoil Mask do?

At a glance, the DevilFoil Mask can seem like a pretty useless item in Baldur’s Gate 3. It seems like it’s just some weird bronze helmet. However, the mask has a special ability related to wearing matching masks called “Infernal Legion.” If you and a party member are within 20 meters of each other and are both wearing the Devilfoil Mask, your Strength (STR) increases by one point. Meanwhile, your Charisma (CHA), Intelligence (INT), and Wisdom (WIS) also decrease by one point.

If you equip your entire party with Devilfoil Masks, that means you’ll have plus three Strength, but lose three points in the other categories. Therefore, you might only want to use the cumulative power of the Devilfoil Masks when you know you’ll be trying to beat a Strength check. Otherwise, the masks might hurt you more than they help.
