How to get the monster costume in Starfield

One of the great joys of playing a Bethesda game like Starfield is all the whacky side missions. When you visit New Homestead, you can find the absolute gem of a mission that is Tourists Go Home, which comes with a monster costume. And if there’s anything gamers love, it’s a funky little outfit. If you need this out-of-this-world Starfield get-up in your life, here’s how to get the monster costume.

To find the Tourists Go Home mission and the monster costume, go to New Homestead. This is a settlement that can be found in the Sol system — AKA our original solar system — on Titan, a moon of Saturn. New Homestead was the first homesteading settlement and nowadays makes quite a lot of wind power for other human-led endeavors. New Homestead’s small community is traditionalist, overcrowded, and overrun with tourists. Which leads to the mission at hand.

Dr. Lakota, a pillar of the community, is tired of tourists taking up space, bothering locals, getting themselves hurt, and forcing her to fix their vacation injuries. When you talk to her in the lower decks of New Homestead, she’ll offer up a whacky idea: scare the tourists away. With what? A monster costume.

Put on the suit, go outside, and scare some tourists. That’s the whole mission.

There are two ways to keep the monster costume: never report back to Dr. Lokota or help her spook tourists away two more times. The first lacks a reward — excluding the costume — but the latter does take 72+ hours. You have to wait multiple in-game days to get another mission prompt from Dr. Lakota and if you simply can’t wait to have this sweet pseudo-tartigrade costume, it’s better to not bother going back at all. If you report back to her the first scare, she will take the monster costume back.

However, if you do finish the multiple missions with Dr. Lakota, she give you the monster costume and some credits to keep. So, if you’re a completionist who loves a bit of extra cash, having some patience is worth it.
