In an immersive narrative game like Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, it can be hard to stop playing. However, sometimes you have to stop playing, no matter what point of the game you’re at. Unfortunately, though, Stray Gods does not give direct instructions on how to pause its game. Whether it’s a bathroom break or dinner time, here’s how to interrupt even the most intense musical moments in Stray Gods.
Where is the pause button in Stray Gods?
In Stray Gods, the pause button is simply the space bar. If you’re using a controller, that correlates to the Y or Triangle button, depending on if you’re using Xbox or PlayStation.
Though you can’t stop scenes from rolling forward while you’re playing, all you have to do is press space and even Stray Gods’ high-intensity songs will stop. At first, the game makes it seem like either hitting Tab or ESC — AKA opening up the settings menu — are your only options, but space is the easiest way to actually let yourself take a pause from the game at any moment.
While the game doesn’t give you a tutorial on its controls, its entire setup is pretty simple and easy to navigate once you know what to do.
How to find the Stray Gods’ controls
Since Stray Gods has no control tutorial, checking out the settings can be quite useful. All you have to do is press Tab or ESC. Then, choose the options button. After that, you should see a Controls prompt. Once you click on that, you’ll see a screen like the one above that will lay out the entire game’s controls. This includes decision selection, pause, skipping dialogue, and many other valuable controls you might’ve not realized the game had.
There are also control options for controllers, so if you prefer to play the game that way, you’ll also find those in your settings.
