As big fans of Franchise mode in sports games, it’s a little disappointing to see MLB The Show largely ignore making meaningful changes to its seasonal mode. Sure, Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty are fun, but some people like running a simulated team. Regardless, there hasn’t been a big change in Franchise for a while. Is this the same in 2024? Is anything new in Franchise mode in MLB The Show 24?
What’s new in MLB The Show 24 Franchise mode?
For the most part, the Franchise experience in MLB The Show 24 is the same as you have seen in previous years. That being said, there have been some smaller changes that particular members of the community might like.
Amateur Draft
The biggest change in how you handle your team is the changes made to the Amateur Draft. Now, if a player has been injured throughout their time or does not have a good position in the draft, they might decide to return to college and improve their stock. 2-Way players can also potentially appear in the draft now.
Prospect Promotion Incentive
If you have a player that appears in the chart of the top 100 Prospect Promotion Incentive, if you promote them to the majors and they win the Rookie of the Year award, you will receive an additional pick in the next draft. This was a rule added to the real-life MLB in recent years.
Custom simulation game entry situations
While you are simulating your games, you can choose to filter what moments to stop simulating and put you into the game. This can include if the score is very close at the end of a game or if a player is close to a milestone. It’s essentially the Critical Situations system that was already there but with a little more customization.
Player award tab
When looking at a player’s card, there’s a new tab that will list all of the awards they have won throughout their career, including the year(s) they won them.
Start Franchise with real-life injuries
When you begin a Franchise, you can now choose to use the active roster of the real-life team, which you’ve been able to do for a while, but this also can include their injured players. If a pitcher is missing the entire year due to injury, you won’t have access to them until 2025.
