Starfield has been a long time coming. Announced in 2018, RPG fans have been semi-patiently waiting for this release for years. With 2023 filled with many high-profile RPG releases, this game is up there with the most anticipated. However, we have already seen a lengthy delay to it before. Is Starfield getting delayed again before it releases?

Will Starfield be delayed again?

You can almost assuredly depend on Starfield to release on its planned date of September 6. Bethesda has announced that the game has “gone gold,” and you can currently pre-install the game on your Xbox Series X or PC to be ready for launch. When a game “goes gold,” it means that the company is beginning to put the game on discs to send to retailers. The dev team will still be working on the game, fixing bugs, and preparing a day-one patch, but unless a catastrophic event prevents the game from working, it will go forward as planned.

Being a large RPG made by the people who brought you Skyrim and Fallout 4, people expect many bugs to greet them when they start playing Starfield. Bethesda has repeatedly said it is focused on clearing up as many glitches as possible, but that situation needs to be seen to be believed. With such a large game as Starfield, there are too many cracks for bugs to hide in for them to find everything for launch.

Regardless of the state that Starfield ends up releasing in, we would 100% write it in ink that there will be no additional delay to the game. This is Xbox’s biggest console exclusive release in a long time, so you know just about everyone from the company wants this to have a good launch.
