Pikmin 4 is coming and Nintendo has been kind enough to throw out a demo so players can try out the opening hours of the game. The demo is filled with puzzles and interesting mechanics that are unique to the Pikmin franchise. At the same time, there is plenty that veterans of the series will recognize.
Demos typically show off a little about the game, allowing you to see what it has to offer prior to release. Typically, these demos are standalone, but is that the case for the Pikmin 4 demo? Does the Pikmin 4 demo progress carry over to the full game?
Pikmin 4 demo – Does progress carry over?
Those who download the demo will be happy to know that the demo progress does carry over to the full game. When you start up the demo, you will get a screen letting you know that your progress will carry over. Depending on your actions, this can lead to you unlocking all three original-colored Pikmin; Red, Yellow, and Blue.
The demo will allow you to get through the first three to four hours of the game. This will give you the opportunity to search one of the starting areas and get a grasp on the new mechanics. Throughout the demo, you will meet Oatchi and learn how to control him. You will also be able to search multiple dungeons.
The Pikmin 4 demo lasts until you collect 1,500 Sparklium. This is obtained by collecting the bodies of slain creatures as well as collecting various treasures. Treasures are found all across the map and in dungeons. You can tell when you have found a treasure thanks to the sparkle effect around it. All of these treasures and all of the Sparklium you get will be transferred over to the full game.
When the demo ends, you will be asked if you want your progress to be saved. Select yes and it will be held until the full release of the game on July 21.
