There are plenty of hidden locations and secrets in Baldur’s Gate 3. One such hidden area is Philomeen’s Hiding Spot. This location isn’t easy to find and it will certainly make you wander around Grymforge for a while trying desperately to locate it.
Similar to helping Alfira finish her song, when you do find Philomeed, you need to say the right thing. If you don’t she will blow the place to Hell and take you down with her. You must locate Philomeen as part of the Find Explosives quest to rescue those trapped behind the rubble. This guide will show you where Philomeen’s Hiding Spot is in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 – Philomeen’s Hiding Spot location
If you want to locate Philomeen’s Hiding Spot in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must first travel to Grymforge. There is a waypoint available when you first arrive there in the Underdark. From the Grymforge waypoint, go up the stairs and turn left. Make your way down the stairs and go past the boats.
Follow the path around the boats over to where there is a large locked door. Have a party member lockpick the door and go through. In this room, you will find a hidden button in the back left corner as long as you or an ally passes a perception check.

Press the button to reveal a secret passageway. From there, follow the path up the stairs. You will get ambushed by a few Ochre Jelly monsters here. Defeat them and continue along the path. Jump over the gap near the statue of Shar. Here, you will find another locked door.

Unlock the intricate door and it will lead you to the Abandoned Refuge where Philomeen is hiding. Have your most charismatic character go first as they will be needed to not get everyone blown up with a massive Smokepowder Bomb. Convince Philomeen to not blow everyone up and you can even get some Smokepowder. After the conversation, you will be able to complete the quest to free Nere.
