There is a lot riding on Star Wars Outlaws and Ubisoft knows it. After all, this franchise is beloved by many. With that being said, expectations are fairly high for the game and the developer knows it. Set between the The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Outlaws follows the story of Kay Vess; an outlaw looking for freedom and a means of starting a new life. With this game being new and from a company well-versed in making multiplayer and co-op titles, many are wondering about the multiplayer status of this game. So is Star Wars Outlaws multiplayer? Will you be able to play the game with your friends?
Does Star Wars Outlaws have multiplayer or co-op?
Unfortunately, if you were hoping to be able to play the game with your friends or play against others online, Star Wars Outlaws will not feature a multiplayer game mode or co-op. There is also no indication that Star Wars Outlaws will be given multiplayer or co-op features in the future. Taking a look at digital storefronts like the Epic Games Store confirms that the Star Wars Outlaws is a purely single-player experience.
Many were hoping to be able to join a friend by playing as Kay Vess’ partner ND-5. Early footage of the game made it seem as though the droid would be a playable character. This would also make sense considering Ubisoft’s knack for making co-op games such as Far Cry or Watch Dogs. Alas, this is not the case for Outlaws and the game will follow a singular story focused around Kay Vess. This isn’t very surprising when you think about Star Wars games since most of them are single-player experiences. For instance, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor are both single-players. Even older titles such as Knights of the Old Republic are single-player experiences.
