Helldivers 2 is one of Sony’s greatest hits currently, and it recently made its way to Xbox as well. Many love the game for its intense moments, undeniable democracy, and, of course, the multiplayer. Not many people decide to play Helldivers 2 solo, and if they do, they quickly realize how much better the game is when you have friends taking down bugs, squids, and bots with you. What if we told you that even more multiplayer goodness could be coming to Helldivers 2? What if we told you that it might get splitscreen co-op? That is, if there is enough interest.
Helldivers 2 CEO Says Splitscreen Co-op is “Technically Feasible”
Helldivers 2 CEO Shams Jorjani loves to answer questions through the Helldivers 2 Discord server. After being asked a series of questions and responding to some general inquiries, one player asked about splitscreen so-op. They said, “Will Helldivers ever get splitscreen? Would probably be too taxing on Xbox and PlayStation, but PC could be epic.”
To this question, Jorjani stated, “It’s technically feasible, but I have no idea if it’s a feature [people] really want? It’s on our ‘to investigate’ list.” This is by no means a confirmation that the game will receive splitscreen co-op in the future, but it does show that Arrowhead is considering adding the feature to the game if there is enough interest from the community.

It would be a great addition to play couch co-op with friends who don’t have the game, but considering the game has been out for a while without any splitscreen game modes, odds are that many wouldn’t use the feature. Maybe Arrowhead could add an online splitscreen so players can more accurately see what their allies are doing in-game, but such a feature feels pointless in a game as chaotic as Helldivers 2.
