“Consider this your formal invitation” to the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct on Thursday, January 18. That’s right. The rumor mill turned out to be correct and a Developer Direct was officially announced by Microsoft. With some highly-anticipated games getting a deeper dive and a few getting some first looks, this is a time to get excited.
We have already seen popular upcoming titles such as Avowed and Hellblade II but this direct promises a deeper look into games like Ara: History Untold and the Indiana Jones game. The official announcement was made on the Xbox X Page. Along with that is a link that breaks down what you can expect from this direct.
For starters, the Xbox Developer Direct will premier on January 18, 2024, at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm UK. After the event, ZeniMax Online Studios will host The Elder Scrolls Online global reveal event. As far as the direct goes, the event page states we will see more information and footage for Hellblade II, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and the Indiana Jones game.
Of course, each of these announcements is exciting but what is most intriguing is the Indiana Jones title. Indiana Jones was announced over two years ago with a short teaser. With barely a word since we are finally getting more information about this game being developed by MachineGames — the studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series. The direct will showcase “more than 10 minutes of game and developer insights, including details about the game’s setting and story, how fans will actually play as Indy, additional details from his next globe-trotting adventure, and the premiere of the first gameplay trailer.” We are going from nothing to nearly everything all at once.
There are still rumors floating around about other games that could be teased such as a possible Banjo Kazooie revival. Are you excited about the upcoming direct? What games are you excited to see more of?
