FromSoftware is one of the few development studios that consistently churns out substantial games with few issues. The company is responsible for some of the most admired game series of all time, with notable titles being the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, Armored Core, and Elden Ring. It is hard to think of a game that FromSoft has created that hasn’t been a hit amongst fans. Recently, the head of FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki, spoke about future titles from the company and emphasized that the development studio will stick to making “truly valuable games.”
This statement comes after many fans of the development studio have questioned the push toward multiplayer titles like Elden Ring Nightreign and the upcoming Duskbloods title for Nintendo Switch 2.
Miyazaki Says FromSoftware Will Continue Making “Valuable Games”
If there is one thing that FromSoftware’s games have shown, it is that they all build on each other. The original Demon’s Souls introduced the world to the Souls series, and Dark Souls built on this title by expanding the gameplay mechanics. Dark Souls 2 introduced the series to the power stance mechanic, which later became a big part of crafting builds in Elden Ring. Every title has had a lasting impact on future games created by FromSoftware. Even the company’s most recent title, Elden Ring Nightreign, has value, as it will undoubtedly share mechanics with the upcoming Duskbloods title.
When speaking in an interview about the shareholder proposals surrounding Kadokawa, Miyazaki assured fans about FromSoftware’s future. Miyazaki stated, “Finally, if our users happen to read this message, we want to assure you that we will continue to work harder than ever to create truly valuable games. We hope you will look forward to our upcoming titles, both already announced and those yet to be announced.”
This statement has sparked new hope in the community for a sequel to Bloodborne – a title many have asked about for years. Recently, there have been leaks about a potential pirate-themed Souls game which has yet to be announced, but is expected to be revealed sometime this year. As mentioned previously, FormSoftware does have the upcoming Duskbloods title for Nintendo Switch 2, which is getting a network test later this summer.
